Jussi Lyons

Co-Owner, Investing Partner

My job here:

I draft marketing strategy, make management decisions and organizing social media platforms.

Why I love Clean Republic

In a way, CR expresses my frustration and disappointment in traditional corporation system. It is very stiff and it provides little effort to challenge conventional ways of life. Through CR, I want to improve the quality of life of our team members and at the same time build products that can make positive changes to our customers’ lives.

Me & My bicycles

I took off my first training wheels off when I was 6. After moving to Japan, I became more interested in road biking. The first time I rode a prototype Hill Topper in Seattle with Mike was a really fun moment.

Current ride(s):

Fixed gear Cannondale Capo with Hill Topper 10 mile Lithium Battery.

What was I doing right before I answered all above questions:

Having lunch.

Chris Mobley

Sales & Marketing Manager

My job here:

Purveyor of magic and a jack of all trades. Other than sales and marketing projects, I also work to improve team efficiency and work on many random projects that come up.

Why I love Clean Republic

We question conventional wisdom. We never accept "conventional wisdom" simply on face value, without asking if that wisdom makes sense in the real world. We are constantly trying to innovate in how we fulfill our goal of providing a practical solution for alternative transportation and energy.

Me & My bicycles

Unlike some of my co-workers, I don’t have professional bicycle industry experience. I learned how to ride a bicycle at 9, got my first bike stolen at 12. I cycled from Seattle to San Francisco with my Fiancée. Most people asked me if we rode round trip, as if the 16-day trip wasn't long enough. We took a train back.

Current ride(s):

1994 Trek 2200 Road Bike.

What was I doing right before I answered all above questions:

Measuring the dimensions of the office to install energy efficient LED lighting.

My job here:

Interacting with customers through phone and emails; marketing/web campaign projects.

Why I love Clean Republic

It’s a fast-growing company. Compared to my old lock-down corporate jobs, I spend every day re-discovering ways to better understand and serve customers’ needs.

Me & My bicycles

I’ve always liked riding bicycles since I was a kid. I feel it’s the best way to get around Seattle.

Current ride(s):

I take whatever bike that is donated to me by friends and run it to the ground. Right now I have a 1990 specialized Rock-Hopper.

What was I doing right before I answered all above questions:

Helping a customer through email about replacing his e-bike battery with Clean Republic’s lithium pack.

Jason Yang

Sales & Marketing Representative

My job here:

Provide customer support, brainstorm and implement projects that improve the customer experience.

Why I love Clean Republic

Clean Republic has the best team of people anyone could wish to work with. The open office environment encourages everyone to chip in their brain power in making operational decisions. We make strategies as a team, therefore, the excution is fantastic. Everyone is super supportive regarding each other's work. I think this is where most other organizations fail.

Me & My bicycles

I grew up in China during the 1980s when everybody had to ride bicycles to work. I have always used bicycles and public transit until I graduated college. It is sad that China is producing 16 million cars per year at the cost of a huge increase in pollution.

Current ride(s):

Giant Warp full suspension mountain bike with Hill Topper sprinter kit.

There's a lot to love! Our team is diversified, growing and has good chemistry. I believe in our products. I want to get more people riding bikes and to be less dependent on cars.

Me & My bicycles

I have 10+ years in the bicycle retail world including management stints at REI and Trek, plus some time behind the scenes at Novara. My wife and I currently own 9 (NINE) bicycles! I suppose bikes are a lifelong love affair for me...

Clint Saiz

Production Specialist

My job here:

Building wheels, shipping, managing production flow.

Why I love Clean Republic

This is a team of like-minded people. The job is also full of creativity. The team is constantly challenged with creating solutions that fulfill customers’ expectations in an environmental friendly way.

Me & My bicycles

I started BMXing since I was a teenager. In BMX, naturally, we crashed a lot. So I was forced to learn how to fix bikes since my parents weren't rich. Since the age of 15, when I was legally allowed to work, I have known my way around a bike shop very well. Since then, bicycle mechanics, especially building wheels, has always been both my profession and hobby.

Current ride(s):

I have 3 Surly brand bikes. Karate Monkey, Ogre (adventure), and Big Dummy (cargo bike).

What was I doing right before I answered all above questions:

I was getting ready to "tube some tires up" (our shop’s term for putting tubes inside tires and then mounting them on wheels).

Kami Madison

Production Specialist

My job here:

Building wheels, troubleshooting returns.

Why I love Clean Republic

The job challenges me. I need to test each return, find out what is wrong, and discover solutions. Since I'm good at building, researching, and taking stuff apart, I love what I do!

Me & My bicycles

I started riding bikes around the neighborhood when I was five. At age 16, I took a job that was 8 miles from home, and since I didn't have or want a car, I decided a bicycle was the way to go. Last year alone, I rode about 8,000 miles on my bike.

Current ride(s):

Mostly in between bicycles.

What was I doing right before I answered all above questions:

Truing and rounding wheels and waiting on test results from a returned regulator.

Ryan Ellison

Partner & Adviser

My job here:

Adviser in long term growth and strategies by providing an out side consultant's view of operations. Also assist with business activities.

Why I love Clean Republic

Being involved in Clean Republic from the start has been a very exciting and rewarding process. I see CR as one of the world's leaders in the "human friendly" approach, not only providing earth friendly products to our customers, but also a fun and visionary atmosphere for our employees.

Me & My bicycles

I have been biking since I was a small kid. In college (where I was a roommate with Mike) I became very active in endurance sports, biking being a small piece of that. Currently I have completed three RAGBRAI's and one Vätternrundan (A massive 300km bike race in Sweden). My next big biking event is the Sweden Ironman to be held in 2014.

Current ride(s):
